Who We Are
The Safe Zone ("we", "us", "our") operates thesafezone.net, an online community for airsoft players. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it.
Information We Collect
We collect information in the following ways:
- Account information: When you sign in with Discord or Google, we receive your email address, display name, and profile picture from that provider.
- Event signups: When you register for an event, we store your display name and, for private events, your NABV number.
- Field suggestions: When you suggest a field, we store the details you submit along with your account.
- Media submissions: Photos, videos, and descriptions you submit to the Media page, along with your account.
- Blog comments: Comments you leave on blog posts, tied to your account.
- Contact form: Your name, email address, optional organisation, and message, sent to us by email. We do not store contact form submissions in our database.

- Understand how our site is used, in aggregate, through anonymous view counts
Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
Where the GDPR applies, we process your data on the following bases:
- Consent: for optional submissions like media, comments, and field suggestions
- Contract/legitimate interest: for account creation and event signups, which are necessary to provide the service you have asked for
- Legitimate interest: for basic security, abuse prevention, and anonymous usage statistics
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services, which have their own privacy policies:
- Discord and Google, for signing in to your account
- YouTube, for embedded videos shown on our site
These providers may set their own cookies or collect data according to their own privacy policies, which we do not control.
Cookies
We use the following cookies:
- A session cookie, needed to keep you signed in while you browse

We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. You can ask us to delete your account and associated data at any time (see "Your Rights" below). Field suggestions, media submissions, and comments may remain visible after an account is deleted, with the account reference removed, unless you specifically ask us to remove the content itself.

- Request deletion of your data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.

We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data, but no method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
Our site is not directed at children, and airsoft events organized through our community typically have their own minimum age requirements. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data without appropriate consent, please contact us so we can remove it.
